Sir A.P. McCoy Opens Vet Surgery Extension

10 June 2016

Ark Veterinary Centre celebrated the opening of a new extension to their main surgery in Lockerbie on 10th June 2016. The extension was formally opened by Champion Jockey Sir A. P. McCoy.

The new two storey extension design is formed around a central preparation area directly accessing adjacent operating theatres, laboratories, x-ray and storage rooms. A kennel and cattery with external exercising areas were formed as part of the proposals together with a large stable block directly connecting into the new extension.

A new first floor provides the surgery with additional staff support accommodation including offices, meeting room and staff room. Following completion of the new extension remodelling of the existing surgery was carried out to create additional consulting rooms and waiting areas.

A new biomass boiler heating system was incorporating into the extended building together with an enlarged car park.

The extension was designed and sequenced to ensure minimal disruption and the continual operation of the surgery during construction works.
