Passive House Designer Accreditation

28th July 2010:

Colin Potter, Associate, has been approved as a Certified Passive House Designer by the Passivhaus Institut in Darmstadt, enabling us to provide advanced design of very low energy housing using Passivhaus principles.

Glasgow Office New Address

3rd June 2010:

Our Glasgow office is moving! From 15th June 2010 the new address is 2nd Floor, 169 Elderslie Street, Glasgow G3 7JR.

The phone and fax numbers are unchanged. The new office has level access and a lift for DDA compliance.

RPP Receive Approved Certifier Registration Mark

9th April 2010:

The Scottish Government has launched a new certification mark to recognise high standards in the construction industry, providing a sign of competence, experience and compliance with Building Standards, and as an Approved Certifier RPP are pleased to be entitled to use the mark.

Dumfries Office New Address

16th December 2009:

Our Dumfries office is moving! From 1st January 2010 the new address is 51 Newall Terrace, Dumfries DG1 1LN.

The phone and fax numbers are unchanged.

Dementia Award

20th November 2009:

Castlegreen Care Home, the first in a series of four we designed for the City of Edinburgh Council, has won the Dementia Service Award at this year's Scottish Care Awards. 625 guests enjoyed the Gala Dinner held in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, where Kaye Adams presented the prize at the conclusion of the Scottish Care Conference.

Successful Heritage Lottery Bid

18th September 2009:

The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a grant of nearly £800,000 for the regeneration of Renfrew Town Hall. Robert Potter and Partners and Charles Strang prepared the Conservation Management Plan for the successful bid.

Wild and Remote Scottish Escapes

2nd September 2009:

Our restoration of Glenmalloch Lodge features in the August edition of Scottish Field magazine in an article covering eight remote locations to escape to on holiday, describing the lodge as "suited to couples engaged in leisurely or romantic retreats."

Stranraer Office

22nd May 2009:

Gordon Jameson RIBA ARIAS is now responsible for the day-to-day running of our Stranraer office, where the practice was first established 45 years ago. Gordon is a chartered architect and has worked for RPP since 2003.

Energy Performance Certificates

15th May 2009:

Jonathan Potter has been registered as an Approved Certifier of Design (Section 6 - Energy) for Domestic Buildings by the Scottish Building Standards Agency, allowing us to certify that our housing designs meet the standards for limiting energy use / CO2 emissions and to provide the necessary EPC on completion.

Two New Associates

5th January 2009:

We are pleased to announce that Colin Potter in our Glasgow office and Douglas Bodell in our Dumfries office have been made Associates of the practice. Both are chartered architects with extensive experience.

A+DS Annual Report: Design Matters

30th October 2008:

Architecture and Design Scotland's Annual Report features our solar courtyard housing in Girvan to illustrate the Creating Communities section of the report, stating "Good housing design and planning is about making pleasant, subtly memorable places to live in or to wander through".

North Merchiston Care Home Solar Array Installed

12th August 2008:

Our second 60 bedroomed care project for City of Edinburgh Council has had its solar array installed. The roof-mounted panels use sunlight to provide free water heating, reducing CO2 emissions.

Architectural Digest Germany / Austria

21st July 2008:

An article on Glenmalloch Lodge appears in the July/August German edition of The Architectural Digest. It discusses the building in the context of the Emancipation of women, and concludes "If there are ghosts here, then they can only be good ones."

RICS Awards 2008

20th May 2008:

Our restoration of Glenmalloch Lodge has been Highly Commended in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Scotland Awards. The assessors recognised the "care and attention that has seen the successful renovation and sympathetic reuse of the building".

New Timber Architecture in Scotland

22nd April 2008:

Roucan Loch Crematorium has been included in the publication New Timber Architecture in Scotland which showcases exemplar projects involving the use of timber. The text on the crematorium notes that "the resulting tranquility is enhanced by the careful use of natural materials."

21st March 2008:

Our restoration of Glenmalloch Lodge for the Landmark Trust is featured in this month's Homes and Interiors Scotland magazine. For more information on how the Landmark Trust rescues and restores vulnerable historic buildings visit www.landmarktrust.org.uk

25th February 2008:

Hot on the heels of Andrew Clark, Jonathan Potter has also qualified as an Ecohomes Assessor. We can provide Ecohomes assessments for private and social housing developments.

Andrew Clark, Partner, has qualified as an Ecohomes Assessor. Ecohomes balances environmental performance with the need for a high quality of life and a safe and healthy internal environment.

Partnership Update

3rd January 2008:

The practice announces the retirement of our Senior Partner, Gordon Hodge. Gordon joined Robert Potter & Partners in 1979, becoming a Partner in 1983. He will continue to act as a Consultant to the practice and his experience and expertise will remain available to the practice and our clients.

Jonathan Potter in Glasgow becomes Senior Partner. Andrew Easton remains Partner-in-Charge in Ayr. Andrew Clark enters his fourth year as a Partner and takes over the running of our Dumfries office.


Beautiful Britain "Living Landmarks"

23rd November 2007:

Our restoration of Glenmalloch Lodge for the Landmark Trust is featured in the Winter 2007 edition of "Beautiful Britain" magazine. The project has saved another of Britain's vulnerable landmarks and is now available for holiday bookings at www.landmarktrust.org.uk

Four New Architects

12th November 2007:

All four of our graduates have qualified as Architects in this year's professional examinations.

Congratulations to Colin Potter (Glasgow), Mark McConechy (Glasgow), Gordon Jameson (Ayr) and Douglas Bodell (Dumfries).

Fellowship

19th September 2007:

Andrew Easton, Partner-in-Charge of our Ayr office, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
