Irvine Townhouse Carved Masks Installed

24 June 2016

During the substantial restoration of Irvine Townhouse eroded stone masks are being replaced. These ornately carved stones form keystones in the arched window heads and represent Greek Gods.

Irvine Townhouse dates from 1860 and is Category B listed. The restoration work is part of the wider new £20m Leisure Centre project. The project involves over a year’s worth of work in stone indenting, together with reroofing, traditional plaster restoration, replacement harling, restoration of the clock tower bell enclosure, and restoration of the magnificent weather vane.
